Figues au Four, a delicious dessert from the Provence. Figs are one of my favorite fruits during summer. I use 1 1/2 to 2 figs per person, cut in half lengthwise. So for 4 persons, you will need 6-8 figs. A scoop of vanilla ice cream gives it the extra touch.
- 6 – 8 ripe but still firm figs
- 2 Tbsp Muscat wine or any natural sweet wine
- 4 Tbsp (1/4 cup) lavender honey or a quality clear honey
Preheat the oven to 230°C (450°F). Wash the figs and cut them lengthwise. Arrange the halves close together in a baking dish with the cut side up. Sprinkle the open halves with the 2 tbsp of Muscat de Beaumes de Venise and drizzle the lavender honey over the top. Bake for about 7 min. or longer depending on how ripe the figs are. They should be soft but not fall apart. Serve hot from the oven.
